Camping in New York
The majority of people who go to New York city stay in hotels during the visit, which is the most common way of accommodation. Nevertheless, there are many different options, like for example going to a camping.
It represents a cheaper and more exciting alternative, since you will be surrounded by nature. If you want to try a new experience, New York offers a wide range of camping. You may think that a camping is not as comfortable as a hotel, but we just say that they are different. The facilities will be more or less the same, so nowadays you don’t have to worry about that.
In first place, among all the available camping that we can suggest, there is an special one: the Big Apple. You can spend only one night there, 10th of June every year, and there are only 30 positions to fill, so if you are interested you would better register as soon as possible. In spite of that, there are other parks throughout New York where you can also camp, such as Alley Pond Park, in Queens, or Wolf’s Pond Park, in Staten Island.
Apart from that curious alternative in the heart of the city, the State of New York has a lot of camping areas and we are going to take a look at some of them: The Beaver Pond Campgrounds, Cedar Island State Park, Cedar Point State Park and Allegany State Park.
The Beaver Pond Campgrounds, within Harriman State Park, was included among the list of the Top Outdoor Destinations. Another option is the Cedar Island State Park, which is highly recommended to those who really enjoy fishing and going for a boat ride in fresh waters. In the Cedar Point State Park you may have a walk, go fishing or make picnics in a peerless environment. It is one of the oldest state parks in New York. Finally, the Allegany State Park offers different activities to make the most of your time there. Including hunting, tennis, fishing, cycling or swimming, you won’t be bored with so many things to do.
